Marmalade & Cheddar Toastie πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Marmalade and cheese are British classics. This Marmalade & Cheddar Toastie recipe is as satisfying to eat as it is easy to make. The key to its success is a strong cheddar cheese and a marmalade that can match the chosen cheddar’s punch. I tried a variety of cheeses when working on this recipe, from Wensleydale to Lancashire but it was a good old cheddar that won the coveted spot for this toastie.

Let’s get toasting…

Ingredients

  • bread – thickly sliced

  • strong/mature cheddar cheese

  • marmalade

  • black pepper

  • chives (optional)

Directions

  • Set your oven or toaster oven to broil. Place thickly-sliced bread on a tray and broil until the bread has browned slightly. Remove from the oven and turn the bread over, so the toasted side is facing down.
  • Spread 1 to 2 tablespoons of marmalade on the top of the bread, cover with slices of strong/mature cheddar cheese, and crack a little black pepper on the top. Place back under the broiler and heat until the cheese is melted and bubbling. Sprinkle with some chopped chives (optional) and enjoy!
